Photos from the Week

Another week has gone by and life in India still shows new experiences each day. The temperature has dropped to around 23 degrees and most days it rains off and on. The sky seems to always have grey overcast look to it. Several of the children have come down with some type of stomach bug causing loose motion and sorts. We're not sure how they got it but we think it just might be an issue with not cleaning their plates properly. I'm still trying to fight off this cold that I've had from two weeks back, plus the odd stomach bug, but otherwise I'm doing relatively well.

From my last two visits to India I've made good friends with John Mark, pictured above, who is the physical education teacher at Adullam school, the one Raju and Shanthi run. He was brought up in the children's home from the age of 13 after losing both his mother and father. Now he's married and has a young child of his own. However for the next three months he will be staying at the children's home on and off to help Raju manage all the children. He's a very strong and effective leader and is good at organising everyone. After talking with him we both can see a real need for a full time leader at the children's home, someone who can keep everyone in line and make sure things run smoothly. I'll be praying that the Lord may raise up such a person for it is a tough job managing 80 children each day, making sure they are ready for school, done their homework, fed and cleaned.

Our daily bible studies at the children's home have continued well and we will be moving on from studying Abraham next week to Isaac and Jacob. The studies on Abraham have been great as everyone has been really encouraged by it. We've also learnt a new song to go with the studies, it's an old hymn call - 'Standing on the promises of God'. On Sunday I brought a message from the Bible on 'living as a foreigner in the world' just as Abraham did.

”For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” - Philippians 3:20
