Photos from the Week #2

It has been a busy week that has flown by so quickly. The bible studies each evening continue to be successful and we are now looking at the life of Jacob. It's a great help having a projector as I use it to supplement the bible study with pictures, maps, videos, memory verses, language translations, key notes, and songs. It engages all of the children well and helps them to remember the study.

We are aiming to start a weekly youth meeting this coming Sunday. It's focus is to meet the spiritual needs of the young people in the assembly by building up their faith and understanding key bible doctrine. But it is challenging to know what actually are their spiritual needs and what their level of understanding about God's word is however I have confidence that the Lord will make our time together profitable.

I've made good friends with most of the children at the home as they are all very kind. It's encouraging to see how hard-working and enthusiastic they all are. Especially when it comes to learning from the Bible.

Last Sunday a young Christian French couple arrived at the children's home and are staying here for a few weeks. They have come to see the children and the work that the Lord is doing. It's great to be able to share my experiences with them as they are very friendly and keen to learn of the work. On Wednesday Raju took all three of us out on a day trip to see some of the local sites. However I'm still recovering from it as I'm sure I've lost about 10 years off my life span from my heart constantly stopping at all the near misses on the drive there and back.

The above picture is of a group of boys that joined the children's home last month and have adapted to life here very well. They travelled for about three days to get here as they are from the northern Indian state called Bihar. It's known to be the poorest state in India and there are constant wars breaking out as it is a very dangerous place to live. They come from Christian families and know each other very well but their parents would greatly desire them to live here as it is far better and has many more opportunities. They are a really great group of kids and are very friendly. Unfortunately they don't speak the local language nor English so communicating is difficult. Pray that they may settle in well, learn the language quickly and their faith in Christ may increase.

Prayer requests:
  • About half a dozen of the children from the home have gotten quite sick with a bad fever and vomiting since last week. Prayer is needed for mercy that their sickness doesn't get any worse and that it may pass quickly without too much pain.
  • The salvation of each child. That they may clearly understand the truth in God's Word and may response in faith to believing His promises.
  • Help that I may prepare and teach God's Word clearly and effectively
  • Good health and protection for all the children and myself.
