Photos from the Week #4

Praising the Lord for the week that He has given. I've managed to recover from last weeks trip to Tamil Nadu and now back into the full schedule of everyday life in India. We started the Sunday youth meetings two weeks back and they seem to be a success so far. There are a large number of keen youth ready to learn from God's Word which is a real blessing. So far we've looked at the importance of knowing the truth of God's Word from Ephesians 4:11-16, being a disciple of Christ, and how to share our personal Christian testimony. Our time together is split into a portion of teaching, discussion questions, and small group studies, with a video or game to end with. I would ask for prayer that our time together may be greatly profitable in God's Word and a real strengthening of the faith of these young people.

Renoir and Jayalakshmi have enjoyed their time at the children's home and at the school. Tomorrow will be their last day with us. They are planning to travel back home to France after a few days of visiting some other friends in India.

Below is some further news about last weeks trip to Tamil Nadu, mainly the construction work of an assembly building and a poor widows house. Also a video showing a street tea/coffee maker (Chai wallah) at work, of which we had several cups of each day. He pours the tea/coffee into another cup at great heights for a few reasons, one being to attract thirsty customers, the other to mix and cool down the drink, of which it is still piping hot when you first get it. 10 rupees for a small glass of tea or coffee, which is around $0.20 NZD.

The above picture is of an assembly hall being constructed in Tamil Nadu, in an area called Sembadhaneruppu, Sirkali. The man in the pink shirt is David who is an evangelist that works in that area. The hall is quite large inside and I think it would be able to hold around 200 people. The building is progressing well and with the majority of work already completed it should be finished in a few more months. It will be a nice upgrade from the current assembly meeting area which is a stick hut that is opposite this building. Below is a picture of a poor widow who was living in a very small mud hut. Raju managed to organise the quick construction of a cheap basic house from ready-made materials, of which the widow was very pleased and thankful with.
